Well, to be honest; the Imperial Fists are THE least interesting space marine chapter in my opinion... Hell, even Ultramarines are more interesting than these guys...
The legion that was responsible for the Imperium's victory during the Horus Heresy, the Emperor's first Praetorian Guard, produced the most effective later founding chapters and that unlike a certain legion of arrogant Mary Sues that are the best at everything, actually has a list of deeds worth remembering as opposed to flukes and tactical withdrawals.
Even Hrud are more interesting that Ultramarines.
Well i have started the IF third company 2 years ago. So i play with their rules.
Their rules aren't so bad.
But they have failed to give the "siegemasters" feel at the codex.
And totally fail again to give them some "swordmanship" at the chapter.
After all if the BT are sword maniacs is becouse they descend from us.
Agreed, So much could and should have been done. IF and Templars had enough fluff and history for their own codices. Still really annoyed the BT’s got relegated to the smurf division.
He got promoted to chaplain?
This is how I see it from fluff perspective.
They are waiting to see some action as Guardians of Terra.
And since Horus Heresy how many times Terra was attacked by Chaos or Xenos?
No wonder they got turned to bones.
Well a Necron Raider force once attacked Mars, They bypassed all the defences because the imperial orbital stations and ships weren't able to register because of the Necrons shrouding technology. Eventually they were spotted but and the fleet intercepted them but they were unable to prevent some of the Necron forces land on Mars soil itself. Since Mars is in the same Solar System as Terra/Earth I guess that's the closed Xenos attack to Terra. And this is only 5 ships. Namely scouting stealth ships. Not even a real harvest fleet.
Of course such an incident have really rattled the cages for the high lords of Terra. And of course the entire incident is put under inquisitorial seal.
Because if they can attack Mars with a scouting force then what prevents the Necrons for going on full scale assault on Terra itself?
Well, a 'real' battlefleet would not sneak by Segmentum Solar defences
Problem is, that it's matt ward fluff.
Mars raid was retconned in new fluff.
Necrons don't have neither the FTL, neither the weapons to fight against Mechanicus fleet. Thank Mr. Ward for that.
And while it was still canon you forgot one little thing. They arrived immediately at the Mars, blow up few ship and landed - after they landed they were literally vaporized in less than 2 seconds. Not even they have the power to assault Terra.
