there's word that now there's few armies with battle brother status; all imperial units will be BB to each other, tau and eldar lost it, and a few other changes happened as well. only eldar/DE, and chaos/demons have BB aside from imperials now.

It does seem to be that GW are making lists that are good so everyone goes out to by good BB armies then bring a rule out to say you can't do that anymore and you’ll have to do something else. Also lots of talk about magic phase, sorry meant to say physic phase and you can summon large deamon hordes or MC’s. Seems more and more that GW are just trying to find ways or selling more and more models, rather than making a great game move forward. The models are getting very expensive to buy now and with new books coming out every month or so it’s getting hard to keep up. So I will look at the new rule book for 40K and then see if it’s worth carrying on playing or just drop out like a lot of players I know have. I have armies for both 40K and WFB, but just can’t afford to have an army with BB allies, then GW to say I can’t do that anymore. So what do I do with all my allies, buy more and make then their own army or sell them after all the time effort I put into painting and using them. GW want me to buy more, I guess.

As far as I can tell, you can still use allies. Tau are merely not BB with Space Marines anymore. You can still take them as Convenience or Desperate. Heck, I heard that you can even take Come the Apocalypse as allies (though you must remain 12 inches away).

That's why I'm switching to Dropzone Commander. If Gee-dubs thinks I'm paying full price for half as many models a la storm troopers/dire avengers then I can show them right where they can stick their finecast. I'm still going to play 40k with what I've got, but I'm done dealing with GW.

I have a good friend who plays Tau-Dar, and he seems to be very excited about the new edition due to the phycic powers boost. Don't play Eldar just to have them as a side army to your Tau, if you start a second army, you should be able to have and field them as an army in their own right. Just because you can't use some of the old cheesy Tau-Eldar strategies doesn't mean you should just scrap the Eldar. You should actually build on and improve their Eldar, so you can have them be an army in their own right, without relying on allies.

From what I've seen, the Psychic phase (which is confirmed), doesn't seem all that bad. Armies without psykers should be fine, as they are still able to deny (including Necrons and Tau).

Yes but Nids or eldar can't plan with their psychic powers any longer , because of that :(

Well as it currently stands, Psychic Powers, specifically blessings, go off with no problems, barring a failed leadership. This is what lead to many of the broken aspects of 6th edition (re-rolling 2+ cover saves in Tau-Dar lists, ect.). Now, much like fantasy, the opposing players have a chance to counter these powers. And since denying is still a 6+ in most cases, I can imagine that most powers will still go off just fine. And if your opponent dumps a bunch of 'deny dice' onto one power, then it leaves you free to use your other powers uncontested.

While I never had Tau and SM together as BB's even though I do have both. While I am a Tau player, I did have some Eldar units I brought to have as BB. Now I have a few Eldar units I can't use, so do I buy more Eldar and have an Eldar army or just bin / sell them. What I don't like the sound of is an army summoning deamons MC's or units. If you get them off (if true) it could make the game very broken, if one player gets some good dice he could suddenly have an extra 500pts or more of extra models he didn't have to spend points on.

Sounds better than 6th.

Personally the rumours so far are removing a lot of the broken stuff from 6th. Each summoning cost 3 warp charge and therefore want to roll 6 dice so with 2 lvl3 psykers you are at best are only getting 20 lesser daemons, assuming do dispelling and max warp charge dice. Also you can just take santic powers which are powerful against daemons. And you won't have hordes of Greater Daemons as the power kills the psyker who casts it.

personally i'm going to wait and see what's what. i'm hoping the "cookie cutter" Star lists will be less viable which funnily enough people who moan the loudest are the people who seem to use them the most. sure some of the models may be less viable in the mean time but you can always put them on the shelf for the time being until you need them again.

No way of telling actually, tau males and females have no obvious physical differences, at least not anything a human eye can see (they can see a wider spectrom though, so something in the color might be different but humans just don't see it)
